July’s Employee of the Month – Ryan Katsanes
Ryan started with Convergence back in March 2008 serving as a Technical Services Director, a new role in contrast with his previous 9 years of industry experience. For the past 7 years Ryan worked as a senior systems administrator for a pharmaceutical company in South San Francisco. During that time the company grew from 100 employees to 350, went public and put multiple drugs into the pipeline. Ryan was responsible for over a hundred Windows servers running on both physical and virtual hardware, connected to approximately 20 terabytes of research data. Prior to that Ryan worked as a systems administrator at an interactive television startup in San Francisco.
Ryan is a life long Californian who’s only very recently moved to Vancouver Washington. Having spent the first 30 years of his life on the Peninsula, Ryan, his wife Nicole and one year old son Benjamin set their sights on the Portland area to attain a better quality of life, raise kids, and still be within reasonable distance to the rest of the family which are all down in the Bay Area.
For fun Ryan spends most of his time with his family, working on home improvement projects and discovering the Portland area. Lastly, Ryan is a prolific photographer who’s had some professional engagements, even sold some works, but primarily enjoys photography as a hobby.
