Newsletter November 2006
CEO Corner
A message from Lance Pederson,
Founder & CEO
Welcome to our first electronic newsletter. We are ecstatic about finally having a way to reach all of our customers in a timely manner to bring them relevant information. We have all been exposed to various newsletters in the past and I wanted to share with you the vision for our newsletter. When we made the commitment to publishing a monthly newsletter, several of us got together and talked about the objectives we wanted to achieve.
Those objectives end up focusing on three key components. Those are:
- Have Fun
- Inform
- Educate
Why did we finally select these three objectives? Let me pause and tell you a few things before I explain why. I’m a technically oriented guy with a strong operations “bent” to me. That’s all I think about! All day long I’m thinking about technology and how to integrate technology into business operations. Frankly, I drive some of our employee’s crazy with new ideas and concepts. And, as I communicate with our employees throughout the day I am practically in the implementation stage of these new ideas. Well, I guess you know that a lot of the employees have to put reins on me each day so that I don’t take things too fast. What does that have to do with the original question? You see; I receive lots of newsletters and I am a voracious reader of technical and business materials. I love them all and I can’t get enough! But, to be honest, none of them are very much “fun.” In addition to that, I realized that we serve thousands of customers just like yourself who work in a fast paced, demanding environment. I got to thinking that there is a high chance that a lot of you are in the same boat as me – buried in day-to-day work and not taking enough time to have some fun.
So, our first objective became oriented around having fun. It’s incredible. We all work so hard and we just simply need to slow down long enough each day to enjoy it and smile a little. We have lots of ideas on the table to make the newsletter fun that we will be rolling out over the next several month’s. The employees here are anxious to start getting them out. Let me tell you about one suggestion that came up. The thought was to have a special sound play whenever any of our customers opened the newsletter. The sound that was suggested was a blaring goose honk! We thought we should hold back on that suggestion in our initial newsletter and at the very least introduce you to “fun” slowly. All I can say for now is: “Check in over the next several month’s for some fun ideas that you would not expect from an I.T. company.” We have some good things coming your way.
Our second objective – inform – centers around providing you with really good content information that keeps you up to date on key issues. For example, how many of you would like to have resources available that make your jobs easier? How many would like to know about really cool web sites? And, how many would like to get to know our own employees better? That’s what I’m talking about. We wanted our newsletter to contain very good information and ultimately become interactive as well. It will.
The last objective of our newsletter is to educate. Knowledge is a good thing. And, when you combine good knowledge with good fun you create a wonderful education space. That’s what we are after. So, when we talk about education we’re talking about issues that will be important to you! In this first newsletter we asked Shane Boyle, who is one of our Team Leaders to tell you about spyware. Wow! What a great topic to begin with. Spyware is like busy bees at a summer picnic. They buzz all around you like annoying little pests. They land on the good food and contaminate it. And, they are really hard to get rid of. Shane has some good information for you on how to avoid spyware and also get rid of it. You will love his outlook on the subject.
I think that’s enough from me in this first newsletter. Interestingly, I’m not sure if you noticed, but they labeled my portion of the newsletter as the CEO “corner.” I’m not sure that we have appointed a formal editor of our newsletter who has editorial privileges, but all I have to say in closing is: “Hah! A ‘corner’ will never be able to contain me! Give me the whole newsletter!” In all seriousness, please enjoy our newsletter. I think you will be happy with it as it evolves and addresses issues for you. Thank you for supporting our company.
